Bio:
The Tramontana album by Orkiestra Maćka Kierzkowskiego contains music that is based on traditional songs, instrumental music and soundscapes from European mountains. The cultural differentiation of Europe is represented here by elements of intangible heritage of such countries as Poland [09], Albania [08, 16], Macedonia [10, 17], Italy [07], France [06, 10, 17], Portugal [06], Spain [01, 11] and Turkey [04, 14]. The contributors of the album are international partners of the Reseau Tramontana EU co-funded project, Warsaw-based musicians active in the scene of local folk and world music as well as Polish rap artist being a resident in Germany. This album not only aims to present the variability of European soundscapes but also tries to find intercultural idioms that could represent the musical unity of the ‘Old Continent’.
